Video Transcript: My name is Curtis Mills. I served with the United States Army. I was wounded in Iraq by a roadside bomb, a IED. It ended up paralyzing my leg from the knee down. They had to rebuild my right arm, my lower spine, and part of my right leg which damaged a nerve that cause paralyzed from the knee down. I had no feeling or muscle movement or control so I needed one of these AFO’s for foot drop because my foot would just hang there was no difference this was as far as it could go. It would just hang down. So for a number of years, I was literally dragging around a hunk of meat and all I had were these AFO’s. These were the original braces I was given. Just to prevent foot drop. They are very ridged and very hard to work with and in time if I got a little bit of movement back, they weren’t going to do anything to help whatsoever. They were just locking everything into place. And I just felt like it was bad enough that my foot wouldn’t work but I didn’t want to lose the mobility in my ankle. And when he pulled it out, I thought it was so small and it was just designed for me to sleep in. I was so surprised it fits good and its comfortable. I can feel the sides of my foot it fits into a regular sneaker. I was having to get two different sizes if I wanted to wear the brace in my sneakers and it was just difficult. And it was very uncomfortable. Wow it’s a big difference. I mean it’s making my foot want to push back. It’s nice. I like it a lot. I’m pretty excited about how this feels. I didn’t know what to expect and this is just so much better than what I had before. I didn’t expect it to be this good.
