Dropfoot AFO for dorsiflexion

Video Transcript:

My name is Janet Ledger and I have had a drop point problem for 30 years. So this is my drop foot. I don’t have the deflection in it. I’ll put the brace on which is like really easy and comfortable to use. I have been through multiple braces. I’ve been through the plastic-formed AFOs. I’ve been through the carbon braces which I broke twice because I’m a very active person. I’ve been a massage therapist for 20 years and I’m on my feet all day so the brace gets a lot of action. I like to walk and hike. So what I can do with it is this. It does not have a full foot plate so it bends at the toe which is great for gardening and climbing and you know walking. That’s like, a huge part of what I like about it. It’s, as I said, quick and easy to get in. It gives me the clearance that I need so I’m not tripping and I don’t have to worry about that. So as I said, I’ve been through those braces. They were uncomfortable. They didn’t work for me. I came upon the Smart Step a year ago March, 2014. March 2014. So many years I haven’t been able to kind of wear like dress shoes. I do stick with flats you know. I don’t do heels but it’s great because it can fit in a dress shoe and under a pair of jeans and just like looks good. I don’t have to wear sneakers all the time which is what I had to wear with the other braces. So I really like being able to do that now. And I love my Smart Step.
