Comparing all the Models of the Step-Smart Brace for Drop Foot

Transcript:

Hi, it’s Ian from Insightful Products.

We realize that since we started with the Step-Smart Brace that we’ve added features and specified some braces for certain conditions, and I just wanted to go over that quicky for you so that when you order a Step-Smart brace, you have a better idea of what’s best for you.

This is the original, it works very well for most people who have drop foot. Some people have pressure on the back of the calf they don’t like, or they have skin and bones, and they need a little extra padding, so we made one a little higher that wraps around. That would be the cuffed Calf and that’s an added feature you can add to the Step-Smart brace. it’s not needed unless you have problems with the amount of pressure that the smaller one needs to keep your foot up.

Then, there’s the Step-Smart Pro. The Step-Smart Pro has optional straps meaning this strap here you can take off- the I Strap. And then the calf strap is also optional up on top. It has the Guided Calf Section which basically allows you to move that guide and contact the medial side of your leg as needed or tilt it.

Then, there’s the Strapless. The Strapless brace has no straps at all, instead you just use the guide, and this works well for a lot of people. It’s a little more streamlined, as you can see, and we do offer that strap, we throw one in there, in case every once in a while, you want to throw a top one on.

The next brace we came up with in specific for C-M-T type cases although anybody can benefit. The C-M-T foot generally is very high-arched, so you need a little bit more padding, a metatarsal pad, top cover, and a perineal pad to manage that type of foot. Also, we have two straps, a criss-cross strap, and that gives contralateral force to really be able to tighten up and control that lateral inversion that C-M-T cases tend to have.

And lastly, we have Easy-On Step-Smart and that’s attached to the shoe. So here you’d have to buy a pair of shoes, send it to us, and we would install this for you. Obviously, it stays with the shoe which has the added advantage of being very comfortable since there’s nothing in the shoe. The disadvantage? You’re locked into one type of shoe. We do offer this style in other types of shoes but that’s not guaranteed. We recommend the Sketchers slip-in for this kind of brace. This is the Easy-On.

I hope that helps you choose which Step-Smart brace is best for you and you’re always welcome to give us a call and we’ll go over that with you if you like.
