The Step Smart Pro Explained

Hi, Ian here from Insightful, I want to share with you the new Step-Smart Pro. it will come to you like this. I want to go over the features and benefits so that you can understand why it is that we redesigned it to make it even better.

The Step-Smart and the Step-Smart Pro have that Jacob Joint and, if you’re familiar with our design, it allows you to dial in the right amount of shock absorption for you personally with the different bumpers that have different amounts of densities on them. We ship them with the amber on the lateral side and the green on the medial side. You can put two greens in if you want it a little more flexible or two ambers if you want it stiffer.

The calf section is what’s different. It’s a little longer and doesn’t require the pads. It’s up higher onto the meat of the calf and (taking off the calf strap for a second), this is the guide- the Guided Calf Section. What it does is it keeps the calf in alignment during swing phase. So, this is an intermittent contact point. During swing phase, the foot tends to invert and that might contact just for a second just to keep this from coming out of alignment.

The Guided Calf Section is installed at the level 3 position for pulling it out so it’s on the narrower side. You can make it more wide if you have a wider calf. We also set it at the 10 degree mark. Depending on how conical your leg is, you may want to change that angle. So that’s done simply by using the 2 mm on this side, the 2 1/2 mm on the other side. You loosen it up, set it where you want it, or move it to a different position.

The Pro allows you to move the straps and change them up depending on your activities. So, for example, this I-strap here can be taken out and you can go strapless. Or maybe you find that you don’t need a calf strap that I just took off and you just go with the I-strap. Or if you’re going to be doing a lot of activity, and you really want ultimate control, we provided for you a secondary strap for a criss-cross design and that would go on the medial side.

The Step-Smart Pro comes automatically with the top cover installed. This is a nice feature and makes it a little more comfortable, gives you more cushion under your foot.
