Back on the Dance Floor with a Step-Smart® Drop Foot Brace

Life with Foot Drop will vary from person to person, but most will agree it makes lower-leg ambulatory activities more tiring, difficult, and even dangerous. After diagnosis, you may have received an ankle-foot orthosis (AFO) to help combat your dropping foot; however, many of these AFOs can cause additional discomfort as they tend to lock up your entire leg. Some patients may need this support in a brace, but others may find this option holds them back.

Our team at Insightful Products works to create and provide direct-to-patient solutions for drop foot. The Step-Smart® Drop Foot Brace was designed by Insightful Products’ President, Ian Engelman, CPO, MD, and is manufactured at our facility in Scarborough, Maine! We aim to provide committed and caring customer service to help you with each step.

In this post, we wanted to share a testimonial from a customer who was overjoyed with the results of his Step-Smart brace! In this exciting reveal, he talks about how the Step-Smart Brace allowed him more independence and confidence with each step. For him, the heel cup and unique inversion strap (we call it the I-Strap) provided the right amount of ankle stability to keep his foot from rolling. This brace design worked so well for him that he was able to greatly reduce his need for pain medication, enjoy daily walks, and best of all… it enabled him to get back on the dance floor!
