Foot of the Week – Episode 16 – Blaze AFO refurbishment

In this week’s episode, we show an example of a Blaze AFO refurbishment. We can clean it up, add new pads, straps and top cover. Looks almost like new.

Hi Ian from Insightful Products, we help people walk. We’ve got a pair of Blaze MI braces that were sent to us today.

The patient has been wearing them for many years and really can’t live without them. So, we’re gonna do a quick turnaround for them and send them right back. They need to be refurbished and we can do that for the Blaze MI design as well as the other designs we do here.

This design here has the navicular window and the practitioner ended up padding in order to distribute the pressure to prevent that banding. Since then, we’ve made the adjustment and we put in a cut, a relief cut to create some yield within the brace, so the patient doesn’t have that high-pressure area. It still has the relief for the navicular and the malleolus. So, we’ll probably end up putting the padding in between so that it looks nicer. We’ll put new pads and new straps, and we’ll get this sent right back out.

Here they are, they’re done. These are refurbished Blaze MI braces. And this one here has the navicular window along with the malleolar window. What we did here was put this pad in here to distribute the pressure a little bit better and to make up for that pink padding that the clinician used. So they’ll go right in the box here, send them right away and we got this nice note here from the clinic. They said here they are the patient asked that you guard them with your life as he can’t function without them. We’ll be looking for them by the end of the week. Well, we’ll be getting these to them by the end of the week. So, we’re all set here and that’s a wrap. See you next week.
