We realize that since we started with the Step-Smart Brace that we’ve added features and specified some braces for certain conditions, and I just wanted to go over that quicky for you so that when you order a Step-Smart brace, you have a better idea of what’s best for you.
CMT Step Smart Brace
CMT Step-Smart design has benefits for those with foot inversion. The criss-cross straps provide contralateral leverage which allows the user to cinch down the mid-foot.
The condition of CMT manifests in several ways. One is drop foot, another is forefoot adduction. Foot motion descriptions are often overlapped, forefoot adduction can sometimes be described as pes cavus (high arch), and foot inversion can also be an accurate description. Anyway you might want to describe it, we have the way to manage it. The CMT Step-Smart brace has features that help to control and accommodate for this type of foot. We have added a peroneal arch pad, metatarsal pad, padded guide on the calf section, and a contra-lateral I-strap. This combination gives the user more stability and security in ambulation.
Often the person with CMT also experiences weak knees that might buckle when walking down slopes. The action of the dynamic Jacob Joint stabilizes the knee.
Although the CMT Step-Smart was conceived and designed specifically for CMT, we find that many athletes and CVA (stroke) cases also benefit from these same features.
