Other brace notes:
  • For ease of donning the brace, put the brace in the shoe first, then use the loop in back to help pull the brace and shoe on together.
  • Always use a sock under the brace that is high enough so that it is higher than the top of the brace.
  • Always use a shoe with the brace.
  • The brace is mostly water resistant and you should not hesitate to wash it or use it in the water. The two rivets on the calf section may rust slightly, but will not fail easily.
  • Peal and place the included loop Velcro® (that looks like a solid horseshoe shape) into the shoe at the heel. See for a video demonstration.
  • Seat the brace back in the counter of the shoe.

We hope you enjoy your new Step-Smart™; the most streamlined custom solution for drop foot.

  1. I am interested in purchasing the “Insightful Products Step Smart Drop Foot Brace” but I am unsure of the size that will suit my right foot (affected foot). The length of my right foot is 10.5 inches (26.5 cm) from heel to toe and the widest part of my heel is 2.5 inches (6.5 cm).

I reside in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia so if I pick the wrong size, I will not be able to return the product

    1. Update on my previous comment: The width on the heel of my foot is actually 2.75 (6.9 cm) inches and my shoe size is 12-13 US. I think I may need a large Step Smart Drop Foot Brace but can you please confirm?

  2. This has been most informative – thank you.
I live in South Africa and have not been able to obtain a “step smart”here.
Am I able to purchase one through you.
